A Massachusetts videography business has been sued by the state for allegedly ripping off customers on ?one of the happiest days in a person?s life,? according to Attorney General Martha Coakley.
Coakley?s office has sued SureShot, a videography shop in Millbury, for failing to deliver wedding videos worth more than $75,000 to dozens of newlyweds. The state also is seeking a preliminary injunction to keep SureShot from accepting deposits on any type of business in Massachusetts.
The suit, filed in Suffolk Superior Court, seeks $75,000 in restitution, civil penalties and the recovery of all footage.
SureShot is owned by Jesse Clark, of Fiskdale, a section of Sturbridge. He, his wife Veronica and employee Keith Morin charged between $800 and $2,000 for each wedding video package.
Customers expected 90-minute DVDs to arrive about two months after their weddings, but SureShot had a line of excuses ? from Hurricanes to power surges and backordered DVD cases ? for why the videos were not forthcoming.
Eventually, SureShot stopped responding to customer inquiries, Coakley?s office said. More than 80 complaints were filed with the attorney general?s office. A hearing on the request for a preliminary injunction is scheduled for Jan. 17.
