NEW HAVEN, Conn. ? The men's squash team was upset by St. Lawrence, 5-4, in the consolation semifinals of the Potter Cup on Saturday at Yale. The fifth-seeded Big Red will play in the seventh-place game at 9 a.m. Sunday against seventh-seeded Franklin & Marshall.
?
The Saints nailed down their first victory against the Big Red in nine all-time meetings, salvaging a victory at the No. 1 position in a final shift that saw Cornell make a bid for a come-from-behind win. Cornell sophomore Ryan Todd won his match at No. 6 for the squad's lone point in the opening rotation, then St. Lawrence took a commanding 4-2 lead despite a three-game victory from senior co-captain Owen Butler at No. 5.
Junior Bryan Keating (No. 7) and sophomore Michael Sunderland (No. 4) came through with three-game victories in the final shift, but the Saints escaped with the decisive point from the top spot. Cornell will now take on F&M on Sunday after having defeated the Diplomats in the final weekend of the regular season.
