A FAN who racially abused an SPL star on Twitter was yesterday being hunted by police.
The sick tweet about Inverness Caledonian Thistle striker Gregory Tade was allegedly posted in Fife by a student who claimed he was drunk at the time.
The tweet, posted on a site operated by a 16-year-old sport and fitness college student called Mark Chalmers, referred to Gregory?s race, before saying he was ?s***e? at football, adding, ?Give up life!?
The remarks were reported to police by SFA chiefexecutive Stewart Regan, who condemned them as ?shocking and unacceptable?.
Police said they had been in touch with the Football Co-ordination Unit Scotland, who run investigations into internet-based hate crime related to football.
Gregory, who is Caley Thistle?s joint top scorer this season, later tweeted thanks to his followers for their support, adding: ?Sad to see people like @markchalmers using Twitter for a bad purpose.
?Let?s move on. 2012 has started and my resolution will be not to bother about people like @markchalmers.?
Chalmers, who later claimed on Twitter he was drunk when he sent the message, has since changed his user name.
He also tweeted Gregory: ?Sorry for what i called you earlier. i won?t be the first or last but still it was shocking and again, i?m sorry.?
Caley Thistle said: ?We are totally appalled by any suggestion of a racist attack on one of our players.
?We?re hugely disappointed he is the target of a bigot.?
